searching for like-minded photographers

If you are looking for others that share your interests and you are new to this effort, here some some things I have found out since my last posting. No one has left a comment on my original post. Just because you post doesn't mean anyone reads it. (Blogger has an automatic save draft feature that saved this one. While searching my links for this post, I forgot to switch to another tab and when I hit back this blog was gone, or so I thought. I found the saved draft and am continuing.)
Forums at Craigslist are a big help, advice from Craigslist led me to http://www.meetup.com/. Facebook led me to http://www.linkedin.com/. My wife told me about http://anymeeting.com/ And yet I still havn't had anyone  e-mail me or contact me to get together and take photos.
Meetup is for everyone, however, you may not know exactly what the group you are joining is into until you actually join them because they don't share with people that are not members.
LinkedIn is for professionals from any and all professions.
But persevere I must, so I will keep looking.

My opinion so far on software. RawTherapee is pretty cool for a free version of Lightroom.
Aperture 3 on my MacBook Pro. Like it.
Lightroom 3 on my PC. Really liking the noise reduction feature.
There are many good videos on the internet out there. Start with Google searches (or whatever search engine you use). Adobe TV is good http://tv.adobe.com/product/lightroom/. This site is very helpful, thelightroomlab, http://thelightroomlab.com/2010/06/getting-started-right-adobe-photoshop-lightroom-3-setup-and-catalog-creation/. Good video for noise reduction here from cameradojo.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMdjZ7zNM5M and sharpening here from Media Cats on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9SBnjKJ2hI&NR=1.

digital photographers shooting for microstock

I am writing this blog to keep track of my goal of becoming a microstock photographer.
My initial step is to create a personal portfolio. The thinking here is that there are others out there interested in becoming income producing photographers also. Please feel free to join me in this quest.

My personal guidelines.
Ye have not because you ask not. So I will be asking.
...at this present time your abundance being a supply for their want, that their abundance also may become a supply for your want, that there may be equality. I'll be ready to share what I can, I hope you will too.
What would I like to capture in a photograph? Well, there are a lot of things that microstock agencies list as subject matter, but I would also like to capture: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Goal number one.
To find models to pose for photographs. The number one subject matter for microstock photos is people. It can be friends, family, professionals, etc. However, to submit these photos you must have signed model releases.
   Here is a proposal.
I am looking for like minded photographers. People that want to earn income, build a portfolio, become a better photographer or just enjoy being around other photographers. We can be one anothers models. If there were around 12 of us, that could call upon one another to pose for photos and have signed releases, that would lift a burden off some photographers I'm sure. The group could arrange times to meet collectively or individually or small groups. Go to different locations time, travel and schedules allowing. Have different changes of clothing to do multiple themes. If there were enough people in the group with different professional backgrounds then situational opportunities might exist (ex. if a doctor or dentist was in the group and wanted pictures taken in his/her office, someone else in the group could pose as a patient).
I live in the East Valley area of greater Phoenix. If you would like to join in please leave a comment or e-mail me at ewolram1952@gmail.com.
